Introducing our 2025 Freedom Schools Team!
We are so excited to introduce you to our 2025 Freedom Schools Summer Team who will lead K-5th grade classrooms and (new!) Middle School internship program at Emerson Elementary this summer. We are ecstatic to have such an amazing group of young adults who are passionate about transformative education and revolutionary grassroots social action. We can’t wait to see all the ways they grow as individuals and nurture the leadership of our Freedom Schools scholars!
Fatima Kabba -
Site Assistant (she/her)
Fatima Kabba is a strong advocate for youth, focused on creating spaces where young people feel seen and empowered to overcome challenges. With years of experience in diverse communities, she helps guide youth to grow, build resilience, and lead. As a mentor, Fatima believes in the power of critical thinking and self-awareness to help young people unlock their potential. Driven by a passion for change, she works hard to make a lasting impact and lift up her community.
Nura Ali -
Site Assistant

Nura was born and raised in Seattle and is currently attending Barnard College. Both her high school and college careers have centered on education equity and youth wellness. She loves writing and watching films and looks forward to entering the publishing industry in the future.
Noah Collier -
Educator
(he/him)
Noah was born and raised in Kent, Washington. He is a recent graduate of Morehouse College and just received his Bachelors in Africana Studies and Historical Preservation. He is extremely passionate music, cartoons, Black art, and culture. After a year of working in education in Seattle, he plans to attend graduate school and start a career in educational leadership and curriculum building for public schools.
Isabel Le - Educator

Isabella was born and raised in Seattle. She is a sociology major at a historic women's college in Massachusetts. Currently, she is writing a memoir about the Vietnamese diaspora and her relationship with food and her grandfather. In her free time, she enjoys making gifts for loved ones, playing video games, crocheting, reading, and listening to music.
Yobach Frazier - Educator

Yobach is an educator, creative, and nurturer entering her 10th summer with the program. She is a recent graduate from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. A proud alum of Rainier Beach High School, she has a long and loving history with this community. Her work and advocacy are rooted in community, justice, and care, with a deep love for the brilliance of youth. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys learning, traveling, and intentional solitude, and encourages others to find strength in being with themselves too.
Natalie Alatorre-Padilla -
Educator

Natalie Alatorre is a Mexican American from Burlington, Washington. She currently lives in Seattle as a BASW student at UW. She enjoys volunteering, volleyball, and nature walks!
Jamaica Aytch -
Educator (he/him)
Jamaica is a born and raised Seattleite that has been working with youth in educational and extra curricular spaces since 2017. He enjoys soccer, loves to cook, is an avid sci-fi reader, and spends lots of time taking care of his plants. He’s hoping to go out of state in the near future to continue his education in psychology and pursue a career in child/adolescent psychotherapy.
Beth Girma -
Educator (she/they/he)
Beth is an artist, activist, and growing educator. She loves reading, making crafts, playing music, and spending time outside with friends! She studied history, pre-law, and education, and loves bringing all her experiences to connect with kids in the classroom. Having taught at Freedom Schools last year, she's so excited to come back and work with students again!
Katherine Johnson -
Intern Program Coordinator

Katherine is a senior at Washington State University studying Elementary Education with a minor in History, graduating in the fall. Originally from Seattle, she's devoted to creating inclusive, engaging learning environments where all scholars feel seen and supported. She's spent the last few summers working at Freedom Schools, where she loved helping scholars grow in confidence and community. When she's not in the classroom, Katherine enjoys baking, cooking, and hosting movie nights.
JC Fretz -
Education Coach (he/him)
JC is an educator in south Seattle who is passionate about mental health, creating liberatory education spaces, and restorative practice. He hopes to work with the Freedom Schools team to foster spaces where adults and kids feel like they can show up with their whole humanity and be seen and cared for as they are. When he’s not busy with this work he’s often with his friends, his dog, or out in nature.
Alyx Alcala -
Education Coach

Alyx is a lifelong lover of school and learning! She’s originally from Phoenix, AZ, and has spent the past decade working with kids in various capacities. A Seattleite for the past 5 years, Alyx has had the privilege of teaching in South Seattle and exploring all of the city’s natural beauty. She loves reading, traveling, and listening to music. Most recently she has earned her Master’s in Education Sociology and is excited to apply all she’s learned, and continue to learn alongside others in Freedom Schools this summer!
